ISO 22301 is the first international, auditable & certifiable standard for Business continuity Management system.
ISO 22301:2012 (Requirements for Societal security – Business continuity management systems) published by ISO in the year 2012 replaces the original British Standard BS 25999.
ISO 22301:2012 specifies requirements for a business continuity management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve a documented business continuity management system to prevent and pre-empt, respond, recover, resume restore and return the business to normal from disruptive events when they arise.
Being certified towards this standard establishes that the organization has a planned effective business continuity management system ( BCMS) in place, enabling them to respond effectively to disruptive events, such as natural disasters and other abnormal business conditions
